MacDowell

Resident Director David Macy leads a staff of 30 in providing Fellowships for 300 artists each year at MacDowell’s artist residency program in Peterborough, New Hampshire. To further the organization’s mission of providing ideal working conditions for creative artists, Macy has directed new construction and renovation totaling more than $10M. In addition to hosting the annual awarding of Edward MacDowell Medal in the Arts, Macy built two free public programs that have expanded MacDowell’s regional impact and deepened the organization’s roots. MacDowell in the Schools has, since 1996, introduced hundreds of MacDowell Fellows and their work to thousands of local students. Established in 2001, MacDowell Downtown presents filmmakers, composers, playwrights, journalists, and performing artists on the first Friday of each month. Macy’s volunteer efforts include board service with the Alliance of Artists Communities, Monadnock Arts Alive!, and New Hampshire Citizens for the Arts. An Ohio native, Macy earned his M.S. in Organization and Management in 2000 from Antioch University New England.
