Lanie Hartman
Senior Sales Executive
BBJ LINEN

In 1990,  I applied for a part time job as a receptionist with a company named Linen Effects.  I would work at Linen Effects from 9:am until 3:pm Monday through Friday.  After that, I would teach piano in the Northern suburbs to around 20 Children, and some adults.  During some evenings during the week, and weekends, I played piano in Hotels, bars, and private parties.

Linen Effects, was actually 2 companies in one.  Part of it was the company Linen Effects which had classic standard linens and napkins and of course the laundry. The other part of Linen Effects was called BBJ Linens named after the owners, Bonnie Dannen, Barbara Katz, and Judy Goldberg. The BBJ of BBJ.  A woman owned business, they had the linens that were beautiful prints and fabrics.  In the year, 1995, BBJ decided to go out on their own.  I made the decision to go with BBJ.  BBJ opened on April 1st, 1995.  I was now the receptionist, of the new BBJ.

About a year later, I was asked to be the first outside Salesperson, besides one of the owners, of BBJ Linen.  Who would know then,  that we would become the largest linen tablecloth company in the country.

And I’m still here!
